Getting Here

The Johnson’s Landing Retreat Center is located at the base of the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy Provincial Park and the Fry Creek trail head and overlooks Kootenay Lake.

Once you get an understanding of the general route, (type in Kalso in the directions) and that we an hour from Kaslo it would be good to print this PDF for more explicit directions. Once you cross the Duncan Dam bridge and head south you are on a gravel road with little guidance for the next half hour. After ten minutes you will pass the turnoff to Argenta on the left and shortly after that the Bulmers subdivisionon on the right. Once you do a few switchbacks to cross the creeks you will see the mail and know that you are almost there.

  • From Castlegar: 2.5 hours
  • From Spokane, Washington: 6 hours
  • From Calgary, Alberta: 9.5 hours

Ground Transportation

Available from Castlegar, Nelson or Kaslo to the Retreat Center. For one price our mini-van can transport up to five people: from Castlegar – $120; from Nelson – $100; from Kaslo – $50.

Small Planes

For added adventure small plane service is available from Nelson to the Kaslo airstrip. Three people can fly for a very reasonable price.

There is a mini bus every Thursday that leaves Argenta in the morning travels to Nelson and returns again in the evening. We deliver and pick up people from the bus stop. You can call the Central Kootenay Transit  for details 1-877-843-2877.
